Hygiene is the key to health
Every year on May 28, the world celebrates International Women’s Menstrual Hygiene Day. Since 2014, more than 270 international projects around the world have been supporting and following this theme, and every year on this day, awareness-raising events for women and girls and other special events and meetings are held.
Given the many challenges faced by women and adolescent girls, it is clear that promoting menstrual hygiene is not only a health issue, but also an important step in protecting the dignity, bodily integrity and life chances of women and girls.
The aim and purpose of conducting such campaigns is to fully clarify the concept of menstruation and hygiene of women and young women, because menstrual hygiene of women is a factor of their health, and the younger generation depends on it.
On this day, the activities include the following goals, including the fight against prohibitions related to menstrual hygiene, the dissemination of information about the rules of hygiene, ensuring the access of poor women and girls to hygiene products, providing suitable conditions for education during this period for girls, and showing the right ways and non-standard solutions to these problems in girls during menstruation.
Dedicated to this day, representatives of the “Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project” organized a memorable gathering for women at the expense of education workers, health centers and young women as part of their planned activities in Vose district.
Leading specialists in the field of family medicine and women’s hygiene from Dushanbe were invited to the meeting, who presented all the information on women’s and girls’ hygiene to the attendees.
The meeting was held in an open manner and the participants were given the opportunity to freely and widely ask the experts all the questions and problems they have.
Educating girls and women about feminine hygiene and biology and having access to the right information about hygiene and appropriate sanitary materials will allow women to feel comfortable in all situations.
All participants were also provided with materials for informing and obtaining the necessary information.
