“Rural water supply and sanitation” project

The World Bank allocated 58 million US dollars for the implementation of the “Rural Water Supply and Sanitation” Project. The contribution of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan to the implementation of this project is also planned in the amount of 1 million US dollars. According to the plan, the implementation of this project started on November 22, 2019, and its completion date is June 30, 2025. The main goal of the Project is to improve the actual situation in the field of water supply and sanitation in rural areas. The implementation of the Project is considered in Vakhsh, Kushanian, J Balkhi, Levakand, Dusti, Jayhun and Vose districts of Khatlon region. This project consists of 3 components: Component 1 – includes the construction and restoration of water supply and sanitation facilities. Component 2 – aimed at increasing the capacity of water supply enterprises. Component 3 – is intended for Project management and support in its implementation.  Within the framework of these components, the Project has completed a number of construction and reconstruction works, consultancy and design, as well as purchase of goods and products. Since the beginning of the implementation of the Project, as of December 31, 2022, funds in the amount of 21 million 446.3 thousand US dollars have been disbursed, which is equal to 109.7% of the scheduled plan.   Also, within the framework of the investment program in the water supply and sanitation sector in Tajikistan with the financing of the World Bank, in the first stage, the districts of J. Balkhi and Dusti of Khatlon region are included. According to preliminary plans, 45 million US dollars (grant) will be allocated by the World Bank for the implementation of this Project. The start of the implementation of the Project is planned for October 2022 and its completion date for November 2027.
