The interdepartmental group began to develop the State program

The interdepartmental working group began its work under the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project implemented by the PMU for the development of the State Program on Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation. Today the first meeting of this working group took place at the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan, headed by First Deputy Minister Jamshed Shoimov.

This meeting was attended by representatives of consultants-developers of the state program from the company HIdrofill, as well as donors, in particular the World Bank, state and public organizations that provide support functions in the framework of the tasks of developing the above-mentioned state program.

The developer company intends to closely cooperate with the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, State Unitary Enterprise “KMK”, PMU, as well as with relevant local organizations, in particular in the regions of the republic, to provide recommendations, clear mechanisms for the operation of water supply facilities and a practical state program that will promote effective review and active steps towards the extensive provision of drinking water to the population of Tajikistan by 2030.

This World Bank-financed Project aims at defining a national vision for the drinking water supply and sanitation sector in the Republic of Tajikistan and directions for the sector’s development in achieving the goals set in the Water Code (2020), the National Development Strategy, the Law on Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation (2019 ), The National Water Resources Strategy, the Water Sector Reform Program of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2016-2025 and other programmatic strategic documents.

The consulting company “Hydrophil” intends to contribute to the development of a program document for the country, which will subsequently support the water supply sector in Tajikistan. At the first meeting, consultants and executing specialists presented primary materials on assessing the situation with water supply in the country, as well as a primary analysis of existing water resources and infrastructure in the regions.
