A man is responsible for the health of his wife and daughter

The purpose of our trip to Vose district this time was to prepare successful stories from women’s lives. I became a guest of several families, where in almost all of them women, girls and teenagers carried water. But I wanted to talk to a family where men help women in carrying water. Once, near a water pipe in the village of Okhchar, Vose district, I saw an old man filling water containers with a young man and putting them in the back of a car. On the second day, we saw the same man and young man filling the water containers. This time we took their picture with their permission.

Therefore, we went to their address to the village of Okhchar and asked several people about the man near the same water pipe that is in front of the village store. When we said that he and his son were carrying water to his house by car, they recognized him immediately. They all said in one voice, that person is Nurali’s brother. He is in the store now and they called him. Nurali came to us with a smiling face and greeted us:

– is everything good, sister?. I am Nurali Mahmadaliev, a resident of this village.

We also introduced ourselves and told him the purpose of our visit.

– ooh there’s nothing to worry about. Let’s go home, you first talk to the women of the house, then I will talk.

Nurali took us to his house, which was 1 km away from the store. We were welcomed in their yard by their daughter Guljahan Umarova. According to Nurali’s suggestion, I had a conversation with his daughter in their living room.

After talking with Guljahan, it became clear that they carried water from a distance of 1 km to their house. Their father was very kind to his wife and daughters in this matter, he always carried water home with a cart after work. Of course, carrying water by men in the village is very rare. The father even encouraged his sons to always help their mother and sisters. Of course, in the absence of my father and brothers, we also carried water with a cart. Later my father and brothers bought a car, now the water supply in our family has improved significantly. At once, my parents brought water to the house in 6 20-liter containers. When my brothers got married, they also helped their wives in carrying water. There are many families in the village who have carts or cars, but why don’t men bring water home with them, and women and girls carry water with carts or by hand? My father always says that women’s bodies are very fragile and we should not do heavy works. In the family, mostly women deal with water. That is, for a long day our work is washing clothes, dishes and cooking, but this does not mean that we have to provide the family with water, because half of the water is spent for them. We cook for the men, we wash their clothes, they bathe almost every day after work. That’s why my father says that men should also help women to carry water.

Now, water has been brought to our home and it is clean. My father is again thinking about improving our living conditions. This summer, together with my brother, they are going to repair the bathroom and the kitchen to install a water heater to provide hot water. When we went to the city, we always dreamed of having hot water in our kitchen and bathroom. Dreams also come true. I am always grateful to have such a father and brother.

After talking with Guljahan, we went out to the yard. She showed us his water carts and water tanks and a large tank that used to collect rainwater.

Then he sighed:

– Finally, we got rid of all these. Although my parents and brother brought a lot of water to the house, we could not keep clean. Running water is running water. For several months now, we have been cleaning our homes and washing our clothes as we want and like. Thanks to all those people who brought water to our homes and eased our work.

Brother Nurali also joined our talking:

– Honestly, when some men came to our village and said that they are from the Project Management Unit for Municipal (communal) Infrastructure Development Projects in Tajikistan and that they are supplying water to our village with the funding of the World Bank, some men did not believe. After all, we didn’t have water for many years, how could we believe that they run water in every villager’s home. But I believed and gathered the people and mobilized them to dig trenches to lay the pipes of their houses. Indeed, that day came and water was brought to every villager’s home. First of all, I was happy for women, girls and boys. The poor people had to carry water for a long day. Families in the village are large, the water the women carried are used by the women for their homes works. In the village, two or three men used to carry water to the house. From the beginning, whenever possible, I used to carry water to the house during my free time to ease the work of the women in my family. We should always help women. If they get sick, believe me, we men will be completely confused. Every time I loaded the 20-liter containers into the car, I was unhappy by the fact that women and girls were carrying water with these containers. Some men are ashamed of carrying water and consider it a woman’s job. How did this heavy and difficult work become feminine? you have to conduct explanations among men so that they also help their wives and daughters in doing some difficult household chores. A man should be responsible for the health of his wife and daughter.

Yes, the best thought, it can be said that golden words, should really be used between men so that we break the stereotype of women’s and men’s jobs. In all jobs in the family and society, women and men should have equal rights.
